This text tells users and Google something about the page you are linking to. Links on your page can be internal (links to other pages on your site) or externally (link to content on another site). In both cases, the better your anchor text, the  easier for users to navigate to this and it's also good for Google to understand where the page is about. 

Practical tips for good anchor texts

Choose a good descriptive text: the anchor text you use as link must give a general idea of the subject of the page to which you link.

Avoid:

• A common anchor text messages like 'page', 'article' or 'click here'
• Text that is not related to the topic or the content of the page to which the link refers
• The URL of the page and anchor text used (although in some cases justified, for example when the address of a new website promoting or refer to it)

Write short texts: Try to write a short but descriptive text, usually a few words or a short sentence is enough.

Avoid:

• Long anchor text messages, such as a long sentence or a short paragraph of text

Create links so that they are quickly identified: make it easier for users to tell the difference between normal text and the anchor text of your links. Your content is less useful when users left overlooked or accidentally clicking.

• Using CSS or text format to make links look like regular text
